In this world of corporate sponsorships, advertising in TV and movies, and all out “everything’s for sale” philosophies, it’s no wonder that superheroes have taken to selling out to big food companies for corporate sponsorship. Of course McDonald’s or Burger King would want to attach their brand to heroes like Iron Man or Captain America. And let’s face it, being an anonymous hero doesn’t pay well.
Italian Artist Roberto Vergati Santos wondered about this possibility, and has developed a series matching Big Heroes to Big Food. He asks, “Imagine if one day capitalism reaches the point, where the big brands starts to sponsor the superheroes. How would this influence their images?” Here is what he came up with.
You can see the rest of the series (including Nike Batman, Apple Silver Surfer, and Louis Vitton Superman) at behance.com. You may also want to check out our post on a similar theme of breakfast cereal mascots sponsored by alcohol companies.
