We hear the term organic ALL the time. Even fast food chains are getting in on the “Hey! It’s real food!” movement. But what does organic really mean? We see it on packaging all the time. Organic foods are foods that are produced using methods that do not involve modern synthetic inputs such as synthetic pesticides and chemical fertilizers, do not contain genetically modified organisms, and are not processed using irradiation, industrial solvents, or chemical food additives. And yet… We continually see packaging using that buzz word, and a lot of the time, the meaning can shy away from what we think it is supposed to be. Thank the lawyers and politicians.
