After about 10,000 years, the Paleo diet is making its comeback. The Paleo diet is a modern nutrition plan based on what humans ate during the Paleolithic era, which lasted about 2.5 million years and ended with the advent of architecture (among other things).
The paleo diet focuses on eating foods such as fruit, vegetables, lean meats, nuts and berries, while avoiding things like starches, processed foods, dairy, grains and *gulp* alcohol. It’s not actually a bad diet, and can be switched to over time. The idea is not to drop fat fast, or lose that beer gut over night, but to create a healthier lifestyle that can be maintained over your lifetime. I personally believe that if you can eat like this 75-80%, it’s a win.
One of the mantras I have been trying to live on recently (and have lost 25 pounds doing it) is to not eat anything that doesn’t rot, but to eat it before it does…
