Burger King in Japan has a special holiday treat for 2011. The Pizza Burger is a pizza sized burger that is sure to give your family enough heart burn that you won’t need the yule log. This sucker contains four overlapping Whopper patties and is 8.8 inches in diameter. Half of the hulking sandwich gets done up like a regular Whopper; for the other half, customers can select a “fresh avocado” or “cheese nacho” variation.
I must admit, to me, there is little that is very Christmassey about this monstrosity, but I have found while living in Asia that many of the “traditions” have been changed to suit the nation. For instance, in Japan many families line up or pre order buckets of KFC chicken, in China, some gifts are given, there are a few trees, they know a couple of songs, but there is little that resembles the Western idea of Christmas except some left over mercantile symbols. Everyone knows who Santa is, but what the heck is eggnog?
