In the far North of the Canadian wilderness, you will find a bar. And in that bar you can drink a shot of whiskey, and in that whiskey you will find a big toe. The Sourtoe Cocktail is a rather odd drink served at The Sourdough Saloon in Dawson City, a town just South of the Arctic Circle in the Yukon Territory.
In 1973, Capt. Dick Stevenson is said to have found a toe in a cabin he purchased, which had belonged to a trapper who lost it due to frostbite. The drink basically consists of a shot of whiskey, vodka, or something else strong, with a mummified toe floating around like a gag ice cube.
When you order the drink, you can become a “Sour Toer”, you even get a cool certificate and everything. You can sip it or shoot it, the only rule is that the toe MUST touch your lips to get into the club.
There have been several more toes donated to the bar since the original, so take your pick and drink up!
